Organ Centenary

Trinity Church Organ Centenary Celebrations

With Shifnal awash following the terrible rainstorms that we had that day the people preparing for the Concert were wondering what sort of turn out there would be.

They need not have worried for the good folk of Shifnal are not the sort to be put off by a little rain and at 7.30pm the Celebrations began with a full house.

Their efforts were well rewarded with Bridgnorth Male Voice Choir delighting everyone with a wide range of music and throwing in a Cac-Can too. (For those of you who weren't there I leave you to contemplate that one.)

Roy was as ebullient as ever (although he thought better of adding the Sailor's Hornpipe to the hymn 'Will Your Anchor Hold'). He entertained all by playing requested music from the West End Musicals and a spontaneous chorus of Edelweiss was a lovely moment.

The evening celebrated the centenary of the installation of the church organ and the proceeds of the evening, which then had reached £471.25, went to the Organ Restoration Fund. Work has since started on the renovation of the organ.

The evening finished with Roy and the choir leading the audience in 'How Great Thou Art' . A fitting end to a wonderful evening.
